Latin Americans Working for Achievement (LAWA)

Operations Manager position (part-time to full-time)

Who we are:

LAWA is Charlotte's first organization established to focus on the Latino student. LAWA

has worked to advance the education and quality of life for Latino students in the

Charlotte Region since 1992. LAWA programs provide Latino youth the tools and

resources to become self-sufficient, integrated, and contributing members of the

community and workforce, through scholarships and high school informational

workshops, LAWA provides a leg up to local families.

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager (OM) will be responsible for managing and monitoring the

daily operations of the organization. This will include accounting data collection, data

entry and documentation tracking related to the fiscal operations. The OM will also

create reports as needed and set and monitor goals established by the organization. In

addition, the OM will manage staff related actions such as recruiting new talent,

allocating human and material resources efficiently, managing payroll, as well as setting

goals and metrics to monitor employee performance and employee recognition. The

OM will manage all aspects of the Scholarship program and assist in the High School

Series program (i.e., college and career reediness workshops).

Pay: $20/hr

DUTIES INCLUDE:

General Duties

 Work with Executive Director (ED) to ensure all programs are high quality and

sustainable

 Post update on all social media platforms

 Create a status report on all LAWA programs detailing necessary statistics and

outcomes

 Collaborate with ED and Marketing Committee on marketing communications

 Prepare all reports and documentation needed for BOD monthly meetings

 Work on Accounting data to include the following:

o Enter expenses in QuickBooks

o Review all financial statements for discrepancies before forwarding them to

Executive Director and Board of Directors Treasurer (monthly)

o Ensure payment and/or donation platforms (e.g., PayPal, Eventbrite) used by

the organization function efficiently and are accounted for in QuickBooks – as

required

o Process donation and sponsorship invoices – as needed

o Process payments to Vendors and Contractors (e.g., office building monthly

lease, telephone carrier, etc) – as required

Scholarship Program

 Follow scholarship program application guidelines

 Communicate scholarship window of applications

 Communicate with ED and Scholarship Committee on program, updates

 Organize and store student scholarship applications

 Redact applications and prepare for Scholarship Committee

 Communicate with applicants during the scholarship process

 Communicate with scholarship recipients to promote announcements and special

High School Series Program (HSS)

 Assist in matters related to HSS Program

 Schedule volunteer hours, service site, and check ins – as needed

 Create and lead volunteer check-ins and collect data at each follow up - after

workshop.

 Create an efficient communication system with Contractors (e.g., higher

education institutions, volunteers, partner school staff and other relevant parties

to ensure successful programming)

 Create and implement a process map outlining the communication between all

parties involved in each project

BASIC/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 Bilingual in Spanish

 Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing or related

field

 2+ years operations experience

 Knowledge of social media etiquette/posting

 Proven organizational and time management skills

 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)

 Advanced written and verbal communication skills

 Proficient in Social Media applications

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 3+ years’ experience in bookkeeping and financial reporting

 Possession of key competencies, including conflict management, business

negotiation, organization, and decision-making

 Working knowledge of QuickBooks.
